In the Kitchen
At Be Sweet, it really matters to us where our ingredients come from. This year we’re working on something special for the Seacoast Eat Local Challenge that happens in August.
We’re working on a Local Yokel cookie. We’re seeing exactly how close to home can we get our ingredients. Can we make a cookie that uses ingredients that are grown within 100 miles of Nottingham? How about 50 miles? We’re using oats, maple syrup, honey, locally grown dried fruits like apples, cranberries, and blueberries. The toughest challenge has been finding locally grown and milled grains. Carol has come up with some pretty tasty recipes but we’re still working.
Look for the Local Yokel at the farmers' markets in September.
